Movie Review: The Notebook

"I think that sometimes the honesty and simplicity of life, and what you want in life is complicated enough." - Ryan Gosling on The Notebook

Noah and Allie

This movie is a major tear-jerker. I could hear at least 5 other people in the theater bawling. I was crying 3/4 of the time. There wasn't anything too special about the love story though. I thought the war would play a big part but it really was just an instrument to indicate time passing.

I think it's one of those stories that's better read
rather than seen as it's more about the characters' emotions and not really the events happening to them. So I'm pretty sure it was a good book, even if it's not a great film. It probably wouldn't have been made into a movie if Nicholas Sparks wasn't the writer. But that's just my opinion, and I really wouldn't know because I haven't read the book yet.

Anyway, it's the
classic love story of poor boy meets rich girl and rich girl's parents try and keep them apart. Typical. But that's what's good about classics, it never gets old, its beauty never fades. So I still liked it.

I loved the cast's acting too, even if James Marsden's character reminded me a lot of Mary Jane Watson's fiance in Spiderman 2. I'm glad there were no traces of kiddie-mickey-mouse-club acting in Noah (
Ryan Gosling--he looks so great in this film, and I think Noah's one of my favorite characters written), nor the b*tchy Jessica Spencer/Regina George in Allie (Rachel McAdams).

Costumes, sets, props, etc. were great too. They must've filmed in one of the most beautiful
small towns in the world. And the music was fantastic in setting up the atmosphere. I love the 50's. Reminds me of the "perfect" world in The Stepford Wives and Pleasantville (Although maybe this is just because Allie's mom is the same actress playing the mom in Pleasantville. It is her, right?).

Anyway, I was very excited about this movie (The trailers were incredible. This film's trailer has got to be one of my favorite trailers of all time.) and I'm happy to say that although there's nothing very new or groundbreaking about it, I was not disappointed, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again. I never get tired of good love stories, and this was definitely a good one.

I can't believe my Photobucket account is down. I had to find another image host just to post the pictures in this entry! The world is so unfair. Why does my account have to be the one down? I mean, my sister's isn't, and she's the one who hardly uses it! Grr...

I just want to say thanks very much to my sister for editing my Comments page, as I'm such an HTML idiot and can't do it myself.

dapat magsusulat ako ng review about this kasi kanina ko lang napanood ung movie sa hbo. buti na lang naalala kong tignan ung sayo.

grabe naiyak ako kahit nga sobrang usual lang ung plot. tapos ryan gosling looks like tom felton's older sibling. nakakagigil.
