 Before I start yappin' I first just want to tell everyone to save their "It'll never ever happen in real life" speeches because really, hardly anything in movies ever do. But then, if I wanted to watch something that actually happens, then instead of going to cinemas, I'd better just borrow other people's home videos, right?
Actually, my sister was kind of disappointed about this movie, because those speeches that I just mentioned, well, they wouldn't exactly be completely applicable in this case. Because although this romantic comedy still has about a million overused cliches and predictable scenes (i.e. the dark barn scene), somehow it was able to show that the sequence of events in the film could actually work.
In fact, according to my sister, they made it look so plausible that by the end (which, she also mentioned wasn't the big finish we were both expecting), it didn't seem as romantic as it did in the previews, or in every other girl's head, when she thinks of meeting a real life prince.
But what am I doing telling you about my sister's opinion when this is my review in my blog? I guess that's mostly because aside from the fact that I agree with her to a point, I don't think my opinion in this case matters much, because I don't have any profound moral stuff to say about the movie, or any useful comments about its cinematography and other technical aspects.
The truth is, I liked it a lot. And not only because the coronation scene was really cool. But really, it's not so cliche with the overused dialogue so pathetic that you leave the cinema still rolling your eyes. It's really romantic, that although it's not exactly new and groundbreaking, I'd still say that we need more of these kinds of movies, if only to get our minds off the problems of the real world, and keep us dreaming, in a healthy and logical, sort of practical way. (What am I talking about?!)
 Of course, the IS student in me would say that this is just another one of the USA's schemes to get people into thinking that they can wiggle their way into any other country, if not by their intelligent citizens then by their beautiful women, and that no matter what, they will never adjust for the convenience of others and that we, along with the rest of the world, will have to be the ones to compromise to their way of doing things. But that just ruins the whole concept of a romantic comedy so, let's just not take that into account. Then again, the creators of this film probably didn't even notice that they can send out that kind of message from a love story, and that kind of implies then that the Americans' feeling of superiority is so inherent that it's almost subconscious to them.
