And I'm Back

I'm sure that nobody really reads my blog so it doesn't really matter where I go because nobody notices that I'm gone, but even if you're one of those who've been to my blog before, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have known either that I was actually gone for about a week because I really only mentioned in passing in maybe even just one of the past entries, that I went on a trip to Singapore and Bangkok. But anyway, I did, and now I'm back.

I left June 3 in the morning, and got back June 8 at around 6PM. And maybe some of you would find this weird, but I don't really have any adventurous-sounding stories to tell upon my return. I spent two days in
Singapore. On the first one, my friend (the only one I was with) and I went to the Raffles Hotel (a really old, really pretty hotel) and took pictures, and then to the Raffles Center, a mall that sort of reminded me of the Glorietta complex in Makati. We met with my uncle that night and he treated us to a buffet dinner near the Marina Bay. And then we walked back to the hotel, taking the long route, to see what Singapore, well, some specific parts of it like the Fort Canning Park, at night. On the second day, we went on the half-day city tour, which was included in our package trip, and then to Sentosa Island in the afternoon. We rode the cable car, saw the aquarium place, and then watched the lights/fountain show in the evening. We got back to the hotel around 9PM, woke up the next morning and left for Bangkok.

On our first day in
Bangkok, we decided to check out a botique that was just across our hotel in Pratunam. And then we found out it wasn't just a single botique, but the entrance to something that resembled an entirely different world, made up of well, shopping areas, much to my friend's delight. On our second day, after our half-day city tour in which, the only ones we went to were 2 temples (Golden Buddha, Standing Buddha) and the gem factory wherein we bought ourselves silver necklaces with our birthstones on the pendant. My friend's Aunt treated us to another buffet dinner, but this time, it was in a really posh hotel, The Conrad, and then she took us to the night market in SuanLum afterwards. The next day we went to the Floating Market (we rode a boat to get to it), and then saw an elephant show, and a crocodile show as well. We did our last minute shopping, and then ordered room service for dinner as it was our last night abroad and figured we deserved to spend for our last meal there, as we were fetched early the next morning--okay, it wasn't early, it was 10AM, but considering that our flight wasn't until 2PM, I'd say 10AM is too early to be picked up.

Anyway, we got to the airport, waited for three hours, and then another three hours in the plane, before we finally got back to the Philippines. I was fetched at the airport by my parents and my sister, who, of course, went right away for the chocolates I'd bought.

Sounds pretty boring, right? Like it's all routine, and that nothing fun happened. And as if I liked watching Harry Potter 3 even more than my trip. What can I say? Maybe I'm so easy to please that I can't appreciate the big things.

Don't get me wrong. I didn't not have fun on my trip. I guess that thing they say about how 'it's the company you're with and not the place you're in that really matters' is really true. Not that I didn't like the company I was with. She's a very good friend of mine, and if I didn't like her, I wouldn't still be friends with her. I don't know. Maybe I just really don't like traveling without my sister, or the friends I've known for a lot longer than the one I was with then. Although, it also wasn't as if I was homesick for my family and friends the whole time. I even mentioned once when my friend told me how much she missed her niece, that I didn't know whether I was lucky for it or not, but that I didn't really miss anyone at all.

In any case, I guess it still sounds weird if I say that when I got back, after I gave out all my pasalubong and showed my family the other stuff I bought, I just went back to my old daily routine of watching TV and thinking of Harry Potter. And if it wasn't for something my sister taped during the weekend that I wasn't home, I wouldn't have anything new (from the time before I left) to think about.

Another thing I find odd is the fact that I did not at all get any inspiration for any kind of story while I was on that trip. I mean, when my family and I went to Palawan last holy week, my sister was able to type 30 pages (Times New Roman, size 8, short bond paper) of romance and comedy from the experience. And I went abroadalone, or you know, without my parents, or a guardian or something. You'd think ideas would've been pouring in, right?

I don't know. Is it really so abnormal to not think that my trip was a big deal? I mean, it was my graduation gift, and the first time I went on a faraway trip without my parents, and it was abroad. And yet, I got over it easily, not having anything else to tell after the first day I got back. I must really have my priorities reversed since now, I'm thinking I'm more excited about seeing what the show SCQ Reload on Saturday is like, than my trip abroad. Didn't I already mention before actually that I was more excited to watch Harry Potter 3 too than my trip?

Maybe it's because I never expected this trip to actually follow through, and because it did so suddenly, I didn't have time to change moods and to be excited about it. Either way, I'm ending this entry because although I can think of plenty more stuff to say, I'm already so dizzy because it's 3:30 in the morning and the only reason I'm typing this only now is because my a**h*le of a brother stayed online until midnight and I didn't get to use the computer the entire day yesterday. Sh*t the fact that we only have 1 phone line despite the 3 computer units in the house.

Sorry for not posting any of the pics I took abroad. My Mom's a worry-wart and so she didn't let me take the digital camera. I had to make do with our old instamatic, which is actually okay, except for the fact that I can't post pics here 'cause we don't have a scanner either. Geez, 3 computer units and all practically useless for lack of other hardware. Oh well... It wasn't as if I was able to take really good pictures anyway.
