--> reputed to cause the delay of flights and occasionally close entire airports, destroying travel plans and other schedules alike, this curse is believed to have started in the summer of 2004 and continues to this day.
In case anyone cares to scroll back to my previous entries, you'll notice how, in those where I talk about traveling, I complain quite often about delayed flights. Recently, my family and I just came from New Zealand, and 2 out of our 2 flights (actually 3 out of 2 -- I'll explain later), we encountered some problems. To date, 5 of the flights have been either delayed or cancelled, and it's not because the airlines are sucky (they're flights of different airlines). In fact there are several different reasons, it amazes me as to how just how many things can go wrong with these things.
And so I have come to the conclusion that I am cursed. When it comes to airplanes and flights, well, I just happen to always get the shortest straw. You can't blame me for thinking this way. I mean, what am I supposed to think, when whenever I'm traveling, the weather would be bad, or the network connections airlines use to print boarding passes would be down, or the plane would have a part not functioning?
Just last week, my Dad and I were supposed to have left New Zealand by Saturday. But because of the extremely thick fog that covered Wellington, no plane could land nor take off. So they had to close the airport. I repeat, the airport was CLOSED. The flights weren't just delayed. They were cancelled. So we had to re-book our flight to Monday. Hence, my 3 out of 2 reasoning earlier -- we were supposed to take only 2 flights (one to NZ and back to Manila), but as one of those got cancelled, we had to take another one (making our total to 3).
Yeah, I'm a real lucky charm at that.
Sucks really, because I kind of like traveling. Well, at least when we went skydiving, the weather was relatively okay so that wasn't cancelled. (I'm mentioning it because that activity involves an airplane too.)
Anyway, just a warning to anyone who I'd be traveling with in the future (if you're willing to take the risk). Hey, at least we can spend more time shopping at the airport!
