It's Finally Out...
...out where? Ah, hindi na importante 'yon. Basta, it's out! The Blitzworx Comic is finally out! And yeah, yeah, we (we? or they?) didn't exactly make the deadline, pero hindi na rin importante 'yun. Ang importante, andyan na siya! Nakikita na, nahahawakan na, totoo na siya!
For the people who are confused--Blitzworx is a Comic Entertainment Magazine (what?! kahit ako ngayon ko lang narinig ang term na'to, pauso lang ng creators malamang :P) founded by some of my friends from high school.
Now, I know, that when you get right down to it, I'm not really into the whole, comic industry scene (mostly because I can't draw--ahem, nahihirapan nga ako sa stick figures), but they're my friends and this first issue has been a long time coming, really. As in, high school pa lang, pinagpla-planuhan na nila 'yan, kaya I'm sooo glad that the dream has finally been (even if still only partially) realized. They're finally printed and for sale!

Sorry I don't have clearer pics--camera phone lang po.
Yeah, yeah, hindi pa rin sa bookstores and the comic stores (i.e. Filbars, Comic Quest, etc.), pero madali na lang 'yun. Or, okay, maybe not, and maybe it'll take them (us?) a longer time before that happens *knocks on wood* but future thoughts aside, I'm way happy for us (them?) now.
CONGRATULATIONS SA BLITZWORX!
P.S. Bakit laging may confusion on whether to refer to Blitzworx in the first person or third person? Because I used to be part of it (am I still part of it?), as a writer, supposedly, except, well, I didn't actually do much writing, so much as make fun of the other members and eat their food. Not that they asked me to leave, just that, they moved the meetings to a place far away from where I lived--knowing full well I don't like commuting long distances, so I couldn't attend the meetings anymore (haha!) so... 'yon.
I found out anyway that the first issue was out, because apart from the announcement in our egroups, I also attended
Komikon 2005
View from the top: Ang galeng 'no? Parang totoong convention. :P
I spent most of the Komikon (around 4 hours) on the 2nd floor of the Bahay ng Alumni (that's where it was held) dahil mainit sa baba at maraming tao
Oh, yes, it's the first ever
Philippine Comic Convention, so naturally, I had to be there. Okay, maybe not really, because as I said, I'm not really into the whole comic scene (and for those of you who are, did you notice, by any chance that all the conventions that have been happening all claim to be the
first conventions of its kind? (because i attended one around 2 years ago, and they also called it the first convention) kung sa bagay, totoo naman kasi madalang naman talaga magkaroon ng conventions dito, so it's plausible na ngayon lang talaga nagsisimula, but i'm getting off-topic). But then when I think about it, it was really more like a
Blitz get-together, and
that is really

something I
have to be in, so, I went anyway, even if I had to sacrifice sleep for one night (but don't I always?) to get to
McDo Alabang by 6AM to meet my friends so we could all go there together--hey, it's a long way to
UP Diliman from Muntinlupa, and set-up our (their?) booth.
It wasn't really just my friends' presence that was worth going there for, though. I saw a lot of famous (at least in the local comic industry) artists (though my friends just pointed them out and I've kinda forgotten their names already, hehe), some pretty darn good artwork, and a lot of other interesting people--like my friend's Ragnarok guildmates (is there such a term as this?) who I got to eat lunch with (in Chocolate Kiss*, no less!) and listen to, talking almost another language with all the RO-related terms and whatnot. I wasn't as bothered as I thought I would be, because, well, I got to eat in peace! Haha! And also, their enthusiasm was infectious.
Actually, everyone's enthusiasm was. Like when my friend showed me his autographed caricature:
Friend: *beaming* Ida! Ang galeng! May autograph ako ni Arnold Arre!
Me: *smiles* Naks naman! *turns to other friend, whispers* Sino si Arnold Arre?
Other friend: 'Yung gumawa ng After Eden tsaka Mythology Class.
Me: *nods* Ahh.... *turns to yet other friend, whispers* Ano 'yung After Eden at Mythology Class?
Yeah, that's pretty much how all the conversations including I went, but it was fun anyway. XD And just for the record, After Eden and Mythology Class are titles of these really cool graphic novels (which cost around Php500 each, so I assumed that whoever Arnold Arre was, he was way cool, for his works to have been sold at that price).
Now, I didn't really buy any comics, (except for the Blitzworx one) but I still got a souvenir from the Komikon.
Look at that! It's
Takeshi in a bottle!! XD Pity you can't do that to the real thing (well, person), though I guess it's not really a pity, because if you could, then he'd be so tiny, you won't be able to see and adore his uncannily cute face. *^^*
This was made by my friend
CLAYSUMMONER, and though I wished I'd gotten it for free, I didn't. Haha, but it was worth it. It's Takeshi!! And really, I believe that genuinely talented, struggling artists, deserve every penny.
Kaya bumili kayo ng Blitzworx kung gusto n'yong suportahan ang mga struggling artists at comic industry ng Pilipinas! Php135.00 lang po! Full-color 'yun and nasa glossy paper din. Text/E-mail/Comment na lang kung gusto n'yo mag-order. (Yes, sabay nag-advertise) I'll tell my friend who has the copies that you're interested. Or, mag-email lang kayo sa
blitzworx@yahoo.com . I'm pretty sure may aasikaso sa inyo 'dun. Ahehe.
Note: I think this is the weirdest (maybe not weirdest, pero 'yung pinaka-magulo ang format or something, at maraming side comments) entry I've written in this blog. Just noticing. :P
